Phil Halfpenny

I am a software professional with a passion for building systems that aren’t just functional, but sustainable. The Halfpenny Stack is my digital garden—a place where I document my journey through the three pillars of modern engineering.

The Three Pillars

🏛️ Architecture

I believe software is only as resilient as its foundation. My focus is on structural patterns, domain-driven design, and creating blueprints that can survive the “chaos” of evolving requirements.

💻 Development

The core of everything. I write about clean code, performance optimization, and how I use AI as an “augmented” partner to ship better code faster.

♾️ DevOps

The bridge to the user. From CI/CD pipelines to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/OpenTofu), I’m obsessed with removing friction from the delivery process. If it has to be done twice, it should be automated.

The “Stack” Philosophy

Why the name? In our industry, we often talk about the “MERN stack” or the “LAMP stack.” But for me, the The Halfpenny Stack represents the human stack: Strategy (Arch) + Execution (Dev) + Reliability (Ops).

“Build for today, architect for tomorrow, and automate the journey in between.”
